It’s been a while!

I’m catching up on blogging since Baby Mayah just made her appearance.

Sugar and spice and everything nice is what this post is about, and that’s what girls are made of.

Ashley and Tevin learned that they’re expecting a beautiful baby girl at their gender reveal session. Being a maternity photographer is so special to me, as I have two kiddos myself and a third on the way. It is so amazing to capture the beauty of maternity, and the growth of a family as well as the unconditional love that both parents share for their baby. This paint gender reveal session was one of the most fun and special ones that I’ve had the opportunity to be a photographer at. Ashley and Tevin are truly blessed to continue their journey as a family, and I am just as blessed to have been their maternity photographer.

At the gender reveal session, Ashley’s mother told me the gender ahead of time and I prepped the pain bottles. It took place in Palatine, IL in a beautiful forest preserve. The setting of the trees and the patches of light created a serene and peaceful setting, and the greenery popped against the white that both Ashley and Tevin were wearing. Ashley was glowing in her pregnancy and you can tell how anxious both of them were to learn what their baby’s gender was going to be. The couple used pink and purple paint while they were blindfolded to reveal the gender; they splattered paint on each other’s white clothes and then took off their blindfolds to see what color it was. It was so much fun and made for some great memories. I was laughing so hard as I could see how bad they wanted to see what I was witnessing!

After the session, Ashley’s sisters, nieces and nephews came out to find the purple and pink paint all over their aunt and uncle and were thrilled to learn that their new cousin would be a baby girl! This is Ashley and Tevin’s first baby and they are beyond excited; as a photographer, there is nothing better than being able to capture someone’s new journey in life, especially when it is something as special as expecting a child.

Ashley and Tevin just got married, soon after the gender reveal session, and are super excited to continue their journey together. They are so in love, and I was so lucky to be able to capture that during their gender reveal session!
